BIG DADDY KANE
This piece was one of the biggest tests of my ability to come through for a major challenge on a short notice. I had to bang out this piece literally overnight. I was commissioned by YUME to make a portrait for BIG DADDY KANE’s 20th Anniversary BB Kings performance in November 2008. If I’d had to pick my 3 favorite MCs, he would definitely be one of them. His style was futuristic, raw and super classy, he redefined a whole new prototype of sexy for men.
I had to suspend my fear of failing and just had to do it. I did the best I could with the skills and time I had at the time and even though looking back I see how I’d do it differently, I’m happy I did it. I’ve grown as an artist since and I’d be definitely up for taking a new challenge & doing a new one with the skills I have now.
